I haven't written a review in years, but I just finished this book and was moved to go back and read many of the reviews it's received. I agree, the story is flawed, poorly edited, and the temporal consistencies distracting. What was absolutely amazing is that I - a former editor and ordinarily a stickler about these things - DIDN'T CARE!! Something magical happened to me while I read it - I fell in love with my husband of 42 years AGAIN. This story made me feel grateful to be alive, to have coffee with my beloved in the morning, to hear the birds sing and watch the leaves fall, to know my children are well and happy. It also affirmed the bittersweet experience of aging and change. There's something special about an author who can communicate the magic of life and family through the written word in such a way that the essence of the tale transcends the flaws.

I hope the author will correct and polish the book for future readers, and keep working at her craft to produce more of the magic!

Written with great love this unforgettable story made me smile, laugh, and brought me to tears. Once I began, I could not put the book down. Now that I've finished, I know that I've have just begun because of the mystery and the magic woven throughout this MUST READ! Until I read this tale, I wondered if the art of storytelling was in decline. Thank you, Melodie Ramone, for NOT chopping up After Forever Ends and selling it in sequels, for it is most beautiful the way it is--a complete whole--love from adolescence to old age, love given freely and completely and returned in kind. No need for politics or religion, unless you count the faeries in the Welsh wood, which I do since I believe it was God speaking with Oliver and Silvia through the elves. What a unique and wonderful life to love one identical twin as a husband and the second as a brother, despite the tragic events along the way. And to raise three beautiful children, isolated from the world really, where one could run naked through the garden, if one so desired. You have written a beautiful story, Melodie Ramone, and as we all know, BEAUTY will save the world.
I have no doubt in my mind that the writing of this marvelous, intricately woven story was a labor of love for Melodie Ramone. Throughout my entire read, there was an undercurrent of harmonious love that bolstered a roller-coaster ride of life events, many of them so calamitous for the characters. I resonated with the fierceness of spirit in Silvia; her ability to step towards love and, in so doing, discover within herself the resilience needed to cope with a kind of life she never had expected.

Ms. Ramone was superb in her scripting of the subtleties inherent in relationships between the characters. I so enjoyed the segments that presented the nuances involved during emotionally charged interactions between the characters, for the author wove intricate glimpses into their opposing perceptions. I became emotionally engaged during Silvia's dilemmas relating to her father and sister, Oliver's twin brother, Alexander, and especially during her own times of introspection.

AFTER FOREVER ENDS is one of those great slice-of-life stories that deserves to have enough reading time available so as to be savored. My decision to hold off reading until I could have more free time to read was a good one. This is indeed a love story. Each phase of Silvia and Oliver's life together was zesty and entertaining; more so, each phase was captivating, endearing and always, always filled with love. The segments depicting end-of-life experiences was powerfully moving for me.

Ms. Ramone brought Wales to life for me. It was the scenes that took place in the Welsh woods with the elves, however, that I found to be most captivating. Prepare to be delighted, emotionally involved and deeply moved.
I picked up this book because it was listed as one of the top 10 romance novels of all time on good reads. If I had known it was a fictional novel, not a romance, I might have enjoyed it more. Its like ordering chicken and getting steak. No matter how good the steak is, you still feel disappointed you didn't get chicken.

The novel follows the lives of two young people who fall in love at boarding school and spend their lives together. While the writing was crisp and the characters (slightly) interesting, there is no conflict at all. They fall in love and stay in love, are never parted and even the conflicts and difficulties they face are... Well boring. For fiction. In fiction, a reader craves more than minor difficulties and life challenges. These characters never face more than a single horrible event in their lives. Everything else they endure is solved, resolved or fades in time--you know like in everyone else's life on this planet. In fact, except for one loss, they lived utterly charmed lives...except Faeries talk to them, save them and make life slightly more interesting for everyone--except the reader who is left feeling slightly cheated of something a bit more entertaining. Or at least a meaty steak
